hi everyone
I'm looking for a bit of input and advice, basically I'm after a hardtail bike in the£1000~1500 price range. The riding I do is mostly xc type riding with the odd blue trail thrown in. Had a test run on a whyte 905, fantastic spec but probably a bit to trail focused for what I want. Also considering a whyte 729 2015 but unable to test ride one of these . So any suggestions welcome!
cheers

The Whytes do well in tests for aggressive trail riding due to its slack geometry - personally I think their specs are terrible for the money! Similarly the 729, for £1500 I'd want lighter and better to be frank.
I'd take a look at this:

The geometry is nigh on identical to the 729, it is £400 cheaper and better parts.0 -
I have a slightly older version of the Crave.

It is an entry level xc race bike. I mainly ride xc with a few red runs and it has been good for both. It does not have the much slacker geometry of other bikes which is why i preferred it. The only upgrade has been XT disc brakes. Worth a test ride to give you a comparison0 -
I know exactly what you mean I've been riding a 901 for 2 years but increasing xc orientated so planning on switching frames to a Scott scale, maybe look at them?0
