11 speed ration dilemma

I'm converting to 11 speed- currently running a 36/50 with 12-27 10 speed which is spot on for me. Shimano don't do any similar sizes in ultegra (dura ace cassettes are too pricey). My question is, if I run a 50/34 with 12-25 will the bottom end be about the same as my current setup or am I going to be overgeared trying to get up the hills around here?
Thanks for any feedback.

    Old gear ratio = 1.33.
    New gear ratio = 1.36.
So ever so slightly harder. 0.2 mph faster at 90 rpm.

The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

  • Thanks for that- hard to tell from numbers- probably won't notice do you think?
  • Why not just get the 11-28?
  • It's missing the 16 tooth, which is right in my sweet spot, plus I barely use the 11, never on the flat, so it's a waste of metal for me- wish they did a 12-27 like the Edco one (without the astronomical price).
  • This is a really nice tool for visualising the differences:

I agree with Siddy about the 11. I've just got a 52/36 chainset so can live without the 11 but SRAM also don't seem to give that option. 12-26T would be perfect.
