Does anyone have any experience of running either of the 2 crank-sets in the title(in BB30 flavour), on a BSA threaded frame using Rotor BSA 30 external cups ? Any info on what components/spacers to remove, to make it fit, with the right chain-line, gratefully received.

  • i don't think this set up will work. the bb30 spindle is a lot shorter than a bsa type.

Impossible due to the axle length.
  • The s950/s975 crankset has a longer axle than standard BB30 cranksets (that is why it can be used with a Cervelo BBRight BB like on my own R5). So it may be possible to get it to work with a BSA BB. This thread:

would seem indicate that it is possible. The s950 comes with a lot of different spaces and a special pre-tensioning collar and I would guess that some combination can be made to work (if it is anything like the BBRight setup you use the large 12mm spacer on the chain side, remove the pre-tension device and fit the wavy washer along with some number of the thin spaces on the non chain side). Might be best to contact rotor and ask them?

I can only see S950/S975 crank in GXP and BB30 versions online - to fit a BSA68 shell, you'd need GXP or a BSA30/BB386 version which has a longer spindle. A BB30 crank spindle is shorter and leaves no room for the bearings. https://qbp.com/diagrams/TechInfo/FSA/externalbbfitchart.pdf
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
  • The BB30 version of s950 already has a longer spindle than standard BB30 cranks. It comes with extra spaces to take up that extra width on a standard BB30 setups and you don't fit them on wider systems like BBright. I don't have any experience of fitting them with a BSA BB but the thread I posted seems to indicate that it may work. I know for certain that the s950 works fine on BBRight (a wider version of BB30/PF30) used by cervelo, normal BB30 cranks can not be used with BBRight.

Ther have been a lot of discussions about this item and the average opnion is that the SRAM Quark BB30 spindle is longer than a generic one so that it do fit in a BSA shell with outboard bearings , like Rotor 30 m spindles.
