Use a go pro helmet mount for a torch?

Is this the "best" off the shelf solution for mounting an LED torch onto the GoPro mounting point on a Bell helmet?

That looks like the torch would be really high up, which perhaps explains why most of the posts and articles on the subject talk about custom built solutions instead.

I don't know any other options but to me that looks like it's going to be heavy.

This is how I did it. Although it mounts the light a little higher than the cable ties/velcro strapping/foam rubber pieces method, it's only a centimetre or so.

Yup, cheers, I'd seen that post (and dismissed it as the fitting is ludicrously expensive for what it is!) - but thanks anyway!

I agree, that fitting looked heavy and very extended, which is why I asked if there was a better way. I know it's no trouble really to Duck Tape a torch to a helmet, but with Go Pros being so ubiquitous (particularly in terms of the fitting connections) I'm surprised no neater solution exists.

Why not just get one of these and cable tie it to your bars http://www.amazon.co.uk/Rechargeable-Torch-Lantern-Million-Candle/dp/B00LBAEJPA/ref=sr_1_2?s=sports&ie=UTF8&qid=1447347434&sr=1-2&keywords=million+watt+lamp

Because I want to get an answer to mounting a small-ish torch to a helmet with a Go Pro fitting?

I can understand your response if I asked "What is the brightest light I could put on my bike" (and came across as a complete troll and uninformed idiot), but that's not what I asked.

lol at 3 milllion candlepower torch though...

If the K-Edge adapter doesn't float your boat, there's this cheaper option and this one.

Also, I don't know which model of Bell helmet you have, but some of the range at least have enough flat space on top that you could easily mount the sticky Gopro base directly to it. I deliberately chose the buckle slide mount to make it a quick-change option: it only adds a few grams and a millimetre or two to the arrangement.

It's really not that heavy - only a few grams more than the velcro tape and cable ties I used to use - and in use is maybe a centimetre taller than this fairly popular option:

That clamp is a bit pants to be honest - I'd abandon that idea and bodge your own.

If you have a charity wristband - livestrong or something and a bit of padding - old inner tube or whatever - you can usually get the torch fitting really snugly and in the right area with a bit of care - just loop the bands through two vent holes and arrange the padding underneath for the right elevation.

The go pro thing will likely come loose if its anything like the one I have - and it looks like it.
