I'm quite proud of how well this turned out . . .

From top to bottom, this is
A £10 Chinese 18650 torch (although I had to buy two to get one that worked), attached with cable ties to
A K-Edge Gopro "regular camera" mount, with the 1/4" tripod bolt removed (providing a slot for one of the cable ties). This is the bit that really makes it all work so well
A generic Gopro mount, with a slide buckle fitting and
A generic Gopro slide buckle base and 3M sticky mount
Met helmet mount that fits through one of the vents
If your helmet is one of those with plenty of flat area on the shell - Feature, Ambush etc. - you can stop before the last item, and attach the sticky mount directly to the shell. My lovely new Met off-road hat however comes with the bottom bit of the arrangement so I don't have to try to find space for it.

Cheap, light, rigid, bright - you get to pick all four!

Thats a lot of weight placed high above you're helmet though.... did something similar a few years ago but it was sh!t, far too top heavy. Unless you like your helmet straps at strangle tightness it will be all over the place.

I have the same torch slipped into a piece of inner tube then tied to my helmet by some loops of earthing wire. Works great.
