Not sure why they are leaving but the Athertons are leaving GT.
My guess would be the cost of having three of the biggest stars in the sport on one team.
Not sure about the rest of the world but GT aren't very popular in the UK so having the top British riders winning on their bikes has done nothing for sales of bikes in the UK.

Widely known since September, they will be on Trek next year. Oh wait its not been announced yet so shhhh.0 -
I guess they will last one season at Trek. Gee isn't the best any more, he won't give Trek the results they demand. Rachel and Dan will give the results but mens downhill is where the big headlines come from.
Should have signed Bruni and Mike Jones.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -

Yeah but you get the Atherton branding with all the other sponsorship and events that come with them... adds up0 -

The Atherton branding hasn't done much for GT bike sales so far. GT downhill and enduro bikes are few and far between. I can't remember the last time I saw a Fury even though it's a very good bike.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -

They aren't common but I have seen a few around Whistler. Enduro stuff though - no.Closet jockey wheel pimp whore.0 -

New GT Team rider line up is looking very good. Most of them have a Mega loose riding style.
Maybe Sam Dale punched Gee right out of the team when they had their little fight.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350
