Hi
So, I'm looking at a new SRAM Force 22 chainset as I need to move from BB30, looking at the Force 22 chainset, it looks like the spider is removable, can you actually change it from 110 to 130 just by changing the spider ? I can't find out online, but it looks feasible and if so where do you buy the different spiders from ??

Thanks
Sean

Yes. The crankset on the right in this picture is Force22, just remove the 3 allen bolts by the central spline. Spiders can be had for 15-30 quid from Ebay.
Cyclepowermeters.co.uk might be another source of surplus spiders as these chainsets are essentially the same as ones used with Quarq powermeters.

NB.. Crankset on left in pic is SRAM Red
  • Thanks mate, so those spiders on ebay from Taiwan, they work okay ? Don't SRAM sell spiders separately in this country ??
Brilliant though, thanks for your answer !

Occasionally you get a private seller listing a spider, or even spider and rings on Ebay. Taiwanese listed ones look to me like actual SRAM parts. I daresay you can get a spider from a dealer in this country, but I've no idea on RRP for one.

Try ringing Bob Tobin at Cyclepowermeters.com (not .co.uk - my mistake) on 01788 556 860. He is very helpful, last time I spoke to him he had multiple secondhand cranks there. He may well have a few spiders kicking around also.

The spiders from Sram Force 22, Rival 22 and the s900/950 series are interchangeable (incidentally Bontrager xlite and Truativ gxp fit as well, I presume these were Sram manufactured).

I have just swapped a power2max 130mm out of a Sram Rival 22 crankset and installed a 110mm spider. 5 minute job to undo 3 torx screws.

I ended up buying from Tiawan on ebay and can confirm that the one I received was a genuine Sram part.
  • Thanks everyone ! I have to say, they sound the business, that is a great addition to the usability of them, thats for sure !!!
