Should I convert cantis to long drop calipers?
Hi,
I built up a Cube Cross Race frame last year to give cyclocross a go but never enjoyed the sport. So this year, the bike is going to be doing the winter training and the odd bit of turbo work.
Currently, the frame has Tektro cantis but they don't compare to the brakes on the road bike. I'm thinking of installing some calipers as the frame and forks have centre mountings but the drop to the rims is huge - 75mm.
I'm looking at calipers that drop this far and the main contenders are Tektro R559 and Dia-Comp BRS 202

But will these offer better performance than the cantis? I think I've got them set up as well as I can.

Try mini-vees like Tektro RX5 - deep drop calipers will be very flexyMake mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

And I forgot to mention - put an inline adjuster in the cable .0 -
How will the mini-Vs go with full guards and 28 tyres?0

Your straddle cable is too long.
The shorter it is the more powerful the brakes.0
