Rear Mech Catches on QR Skewer

Just building up a new bike, using a Ribble frame, and have an issue with fitting the rear wheel.
Bizarrely, the "nut" end of the skewer catches on the rear mech, such that I have to remove it completely to fit the wheel - not very "QR"...
Am I doing something very wrong, or has anyone come across, and fixed, this before?

Ribble Pro Evo Carbon frame
Fulcrum Racing 5 wheelset, with supplied QR skewers
Shimano 105 5700 rear mech

Thoughts appreciated

Do you move the mech out the way with one hand, and remove the wheel with the other?
Or are you just pulling on the wheel?
My winter bike is exactly the same as my summer bike,,, but dirty...
  • Happens with some shorter derailleur hangers. (frame makers fault)
Find a smaller diameter QR nut or if yours is alloy just file a flat side that will give clearance so the wheel can slide in like it should.
If it is a popular hanger used by many frames, there may be a slightly longer version available that will cure your woes, just check that if you are running a tight cluster that the top pulley doesn't get too far away from the cluster and degrade shifting.

Thanks I think you're right; just a bit of a design flaw. All the more frustrating as I am really pleased with the frame, and my wheel set.
Think I can probably file a small flat on the nut and see how that goes - at least it's inexpensive it doesn't work out.
    Thanks again, h
