Hi,

I've just bought a secondhand Kinesis Aithein frame with a Dura Ace bb86 bottom bracket already installed. My FSA Gossamer 10speed crankset doesn't seem to want to fit ( at least not without whacking it with a hammer ). Having searched on Google i'm still not sure if it should fit or not.

Appreciate it if anyone can confirm whether it should fit or not before i break out the persuader & it all ends in tears!

Thanks.

No it won't without damaging the NDS BB bearing. You will need the appropriate FSA BB for your crankset.

I've use Gossamer cranks with HT2 BBs without any issues - just needs a 'nudge' with a mallet to seat them home - bearing size is the same but the plastic top-hat bearing seal is a little thicker but not enough to cause damage - or if you're really worried, simply give the inside of the plastic a light rub with emery paper and smear with grease.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

Yep, it'll fit but it'll be tight. Although they are the same size, the FSA is a squeeze. I could get mine in with some light use of a rubber mallet. Getting it out took a lot more effort however.
  • Since it ought to fit i gave it a small tap and it went in surprisingly easily in the end.

    Thanks for the replies.
