Odd question I know but trying to make sure it will fit and am away from home for a week,

How long is a large road bike and turbo, Ie the min space needed length wise to have it and use it.

Aprox, is fine, seems i have about 5ft 10 in's of floor space so will be tight i think !

Helps appreciated.

I would suggest using a tape measure rather than asking randoms who do not know either the size of your bike, nor the turbo.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

  • Surely you will be able to measure your own bike and turbo?
  • I'm away from home and trying to make plans so only after an approximate

It depends on the Turbo's design. On mine my Turbo does not extend past the end of the bike, so from wheel end to wheel end it would be about 5 1/2 ft (measure your bike and then look at the design of turbo's in photos from the side on).

For example, look at a design like this, the wheel extends further back than the turbo does so the space required is just the length of the bike.

I'd be extremely surprised if your bike is longer than 5 1/2 ft, it won't be 5ft 10.

Thanks for this, even the picture was useful in reminding me about the design of my turbo, thanks for the helpful reply.
  • Typical road bike wheelbase is about 1000mm, give or take a few. Add in one wheel diameter of 622, plus a couple of tyre thicknesses at 25 each say, and you get a total length of 1670 +/-.

Add a little bit of margin and use 1700 means you're up to 5'7" already. Any overhang by the turbo setup might make it a bit of a squeeze
