Hi,

I have a 2014 Defy Composite 1 (as per the URL below) which I am considering upgrading to Di2 by using the Di2 components from a friends Canyon SLF (which he is selling). When I asked this question to a sales rep at a local Giant store I was told that although it was possible, it would be more beneficial/practical to keep my bike as it is (11spd ultegra mechanical) and instead replace it (surprise surprise!) with a current model Defy Advanced.

The frame on my Defy has the external battery mount on the lower part of the non-drive side chainstay so I presume it is Di2 compatible, however the gear cables are run externally. If I was to convert to Di2 would I have to use external cable sheaths or can the cables be run internally?

Has anybody already done this upgrade - or know if it is possible/worthwhile?

Thank you,

Mike
