And for the record, those oakleys don't look good.
He'll look back at pictures him of himself and go '...yeah...'0 -
The cobbles are supposed to be a pretty long stretch, and not too smooth; but, in the initial first laps, so won't affect the finale. The final laps have loads of climbing:

Every lap a 4km climb at 9% ave. + a 4 km climb at 6% ave.0 -
Goes right past the hotel I stayed in when I was there for work earlier in the year Ran down the front through Ipanema and Leblon a couple of times too. It is stunning.
Does anyone know where that cobbled section is? It looks like it is by the beach but I don't recall seeing any cobbled bits on those roads.
Does it include the climb up to Corcovado/Christ the Redeemer at the end or is the finish on the main loop? I thought they did that climb on the test event, it looked pretty brutal (could have just been the Strava file I saw, can't remember whose it was though).0 -
The finish is on the main loop as far as I know.
The cobbles are on a coastal road, a bit further West, where they do some loops first0 -
The only two who I've heard stating they are targeting it so far are Froome and Quintana.0

For sure. Purito's come out and said he wants it too. Nibz and Aru can squabble over who will be the Chosen One, and Cassani will have to decide.
On paper Spain will be a top pick with the roster of climbers they can call on. But there'll be the usual polemics...0 -

That's where I got the line that the parcors is tough ( and on Purito's radar) - personally I think he would be a worthy winner but would want a younger rider to win - sort of thing Zakarin could do well at or Alaphillipe or Gallopin or a Yates or a Kennaugh or about 25 - 30 others - what a wealth of talent Team Earth has at present !0 -

Year (or two) too far for JRod isn't it?
The same could have been said about Vino back in Autumn 2011....0 -

Mine too. Just put a fiver on Mondory while I was at it as well.0 -

That Strava segment is only the first part of the course.
Here's the whole course:
They ran a test event on it earlier in the year. (Course slightly altered due to protests though). Vuillermoz won it.0 -
From the little I've seen so far Sagan can't be counted out, nor Kwia.0

I wonder if Froome talking of targeting it is in the hope an Olympic gold will give him the same public affection as Wiggins has received (or that he'll get a Knighthood)?0

No-one seems to remember much about his bronze medal in Surrey so I wouldn't hold out much hope.0 -

Can't be many guys who have won the tour twice with so few fans? he could win every race he enters but will never gain as many fans as Wiggins, Sagan, G etc0 -

Everyone wants to be loved.
Especially if that translates directly into ££££Twitter: @RichN950 -
