Hydraulic disc winter bike

I'm looking for a winter bike with hydraulic discs and mounts for proper full length mudguards. So far I've looked at the Canyon Infite AL 9.0s or building up a Kinesis 4s disc.
What options do people suggest? My budget is around £1500 but I don't mind spending more for a decent set-up/good deal.

I've just bought a carbon grade 105 as my winter bike, well impressed.
Over your budget but one of the best bikes I have owned, read reviews.0 -

This morning I ordered a Focus Cayo AL 105 Disc from my LBS @ £1200.
It should arrive just in time for Christmas.

What about one of the new Dolomites? Look great if you're stuck with using Evans Ride2Work:

"or building up a Kinesis 4s disc"
If you don't need tyres fatter than 28mm I'd do this one. Slightly biased; I have one of the original Racelight Tk's, initially as my all year round bike, now as a dedicated wet weather beast. 8 years on and still a hoot to ride. It's just a road bike with proper mudguards. In the evolution from Tk to Tk2 to the 4S Kinesis added a slightly taller, beefier and tapered head-tube and a matched carbon fork.
If I was forced to have just one bike again the carbon Scott would have to go.0 -
Thanks for the replies everyone. I think I'm edging towards the Kinesis, although the Bowman pilgrims frames does look very interesting.0

How about a Genesis Equilibrium Disc Ltd? http://www.genesisbikes.co.uk/bikes/road/road-disc/equilibrium-disc-ltd0

I've been debating the exact same thing over the last month or so.
As a minimum I was looking for:
Hydraulic discs - preferably using the new Shimano flat mount standard as this looks to be relatively future proof for the time being
Internal cable routing
Aluminium frame
Can take big tyres plus mounts for guards
Less than <£1500 (the lower the better!)
It's safe to say that the vast majority of 2016 disc bikes released so far don't meet all my requirements. The handful I've noticed so far that come close include:
Pinnacle Dolomite 5 2016

Scott Speedster 20 Disc 2016 - not sure whether this will take guards

Kinesis 4S Disc Build - difficult to gauge the final build cost based on the fact that no one seems to be stocking the 105 level disc calipers and shifters yet. The Ultegra level disc shifters and calipers are just too much money at the moment.keef66 wrote:

The Kinesis literature that I picked up at The Cycle Show says the new Disc frame can actually take 32mm tyres with guards."One thing that is worse than Carlton Kirby: people complaining about Carlton Kirby.

It ticks all the boxes including, at £1200, price.
I'd love to know how many people want that Cube NOW, but aren't prepared to wait until Spring for their winter bike!0 -
Well until yesterday I think the list consisted of me and you!"One thing that is worse than Carlton Kirby: people complaining about Carlton Kirby.

I'll sell you my Diverge Comp SW 2015, Shimano hydraulic discs, Chainset & chain upgraded to Ultegra, with SKS Longboards already fitted for £1500..?0

Pinnacle Arkose Singlespeed 2015 for £640? http://www.evanscycles.com/products/pinnacle/arkose-singlespeed-2015-adventure-road-bike-ec071310#features
Pinnacle Arkose 2 2015 for £765? http://www.evanscycles.com/products/pinnacle/arkose-two-2015-adventure-road-bike-ec071306
A lot of the 2016 Arkose have "proper" hydraulic brakes also, choosing Shimano brakes instead of Hylex, but they seem to have taken a step backwards at the lower end of the range, for example the Arkose 2 2016 has "hybrid" hydraulic Spyres.
I really wish I had an Evans local to me, I'd love to test ride the 2015 Singlespeed, because on the face of it this model seems great value for money.================

I also looked at the Arkose when considering the Dolomite 5 2016.
The Arkose 4 2015 http://goo.gl/mE2fT8 looked really nice, especially the colour, but it didn't have internal routing and sounded more suited to cyclocross/off-road than the road riding I would be doing for 99% of the time.
EDIT: I've just looked at the Arkose 3 2016 and it looks great! http://goo.gl/gYpUem
Maybe I shouldn't dismiss the whole do-it-all bike concept looking at the spec for the price."One thing that is worse than Carlton Kirby: people complaining about Carlton Kirby.

Bish! Bash! Bosh! - sorted!

If I didn't already have a GT Grade carbon Ultegra I think I might have been tempted by one of these.0 -
I'm guessing this isn't the done thing, and rather a poor show on my part:-

Charge Plug?,ok only cable brakes on mine, but they work good enough, you would have enough left over to up grade, also have mudguard and pannier mounts, they are a bit on the heavy side, but are very plush to ride, first steel framed bike i had rode for over 15 years and i had forgotten how nice they are0

Have you thought about gravel bikes at all? The only reason I ask is that I am in exactly the same situation as you, wanting the same thing. Hydraulic winter bike, internal cabling, 105 11speed, ability to fit decent mudguards.
I was thinking about the Specialised Diverge or equivalent. I currently have a 9 speed Allez, running 23mm gatorskins, but would rather have something that can cope with winter conditions (including leaves / pot holes / and other UK road conditions)!0 -

I have a diverge with hydraulic disc brakes and it is very smooth on the road with very good braking wet or dry. While i don't aim at pot holes it copes well with rougher road surfaces. Surprisingly it is faster than my road bike for my riding. It also is more agile than a normal road bike but not as agile as a mountain bike etc.
Off road it is fine until things get a bit rougher and then will beat you up a bit.
It is not the cheapest bike for the spec but i would buy the same bike again for my needs.0
