Has anyone got any experience of or knowledge about these wheels (or failing that I'll take any half-baked opinions/guesswork/rants as there isn't much out there):

http://www.dtswiss.com/Wheels/Road-Wheels/RR-21-DICUT-en

They are 21.5mm/18mm external/internal rim width so nice and wide and they sound reasonably light for 21mm rims at 1,415g.

Many thanks

You could get a set of Campag Zondas for half the price and they only weigh 100g more. They are light but I am not sure they are worth the premium. Above the £500 mark you seem to see prices almost double for every 100g shaved off. Really not worth it IMO. Money could be spent better on other things. You could get a decent power meter for that price and would help you improve and go faster than the wheels would.

In the "rants" category, I don't like the DT Swiss skewers which have a red centre and a lever the pulls out and rotates. I had a minor "off" on a ride and scraped it and it became completely jammed stopping me from being able to remove the wheel. It's not a good design.

21 is hardly "nice and wide" either!

Sorry, I should have said they come stock on a bike I was looking at so not an option to upgrade or downgrade. I guess I'm wondering how good a pair they are, am I getting something in the ballpark of DA C24 or R500s!

Meanredspider - the bike is too expensive to ever have an off on so that's not an issue...

Hmm, strange. You're right as 21.5mm isn't "wide" but the internal width of 18mm is isn't it? What's going on there?

I'd have said something similar about my Scott Foil Team Ed - unfortunately diesel on a roundabout said differently. Fortunately I escaped with minor damage to me and the bike - better than one of the other riders on the day who bust his collarbone at the same spot.

Bit confused now. If they are stock wheels, what bike are they on? Generally bikes either come with cheap wheels or cheap other bits to keep the costs down. The exception to the rule is uber expensive top of the range bikes with super specced everything.

If this is the case, then what is the full spec of the bike? I wouldn't suggest buying anything based on how good thwe wheels for reasons I have already mentioned

A lot of the carbon Canyon Enduraces have them. They do seem to put decent wheels on a lot of their bikes.

On a related note my Canyon MTB came with DT wheels including the skewer that 'meanredspider' ranted about. I love it. Far better than the normal skewer - so much easier to tighten but possibly a little overkill for a road bike?
