rear mech fell off

My Trek 4700 and its Shimano Deore rear mech have 9yr and prob 50k km.
I do inspect, clean, and lube the chain religiously. Of course chain, cassette and cable already changed xyz times. But I tend not to check the mech.
Today 7am half way into my 15km commute the rear mech fell off.
It took me a short distance to stop, meanwhile the mech with the chain got entangled into the spokes.
The mech is probably beyond use now. I guess what happened is over time and distances the screw holding the mech onto the frame was loose, and it finally got off. In fact the threaded eyelet appears at least bent. I hope I can still use it, not too bad having to replace the mech but changing frame would be an expensive hassle...

If it's a steel frame you can bend the hanger straight, normally.
If aluminium it is probably replaceable.I don't do smileys.
