Hi All,
New to this forum, I'm looking to get a hardtail for 600-700 (and using cyclescheme). I've been looking loads, but damn there are so many bikes, and I really don't know much about them! I'm a heavy guy (120 kg) so I think decent forks are at the top of the list (?). Some of the potential options I've come across,

Any tips/suggestions would be much appreciated!!! (p.s. garish colours are a + in my book..)

This is reduced from £900 to £550, doubt youll bet a better spec for the money:

Or if you cant use the voucher there have a look at:

Decathlon accept cyclescheme, Halfords don't.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

Thanks mattyfez, but sadly they only have small frames in stock, I'm about 5'10" so I think I'd need a Large frame; otherwise that would be an easy choice!0
-
You could be small, medium, or large ;-) Depends on the actual measurements, as sizes vary so much between models. If you can try the individual models, do so, is the best way.0
-
I get a voodoo or kona. All strong bikes. Just depends on the wheel size and suspension you like0
-
Thanks, I'll check out those Kona bikes. What do you think of the Marin bikes I posted links to above? - they've had a large chunk of money knocked of em...0
-
or maybe I should just save a load of cash and get this..

this looks like a steal!???0 -
DONT get a Kona - horrendous value for money, even the reduced ones around at the moment. Shame really.
DO get the Rockrider 560 from Decathlon though - a third less than your budget but probably beats anything witin it. Some other great value on Boardman, Voodoo and Carrera at Halfords but if they dont take Cyclescheme then that doesnt help...0 -
The rock rider is a steal.
The marins look decent value if that's the bike you like but neither are better than the rock rider which is almost half the price.
I have the voodoo hoodoo and love it but the spec on the rockrider beats it by a long way while saving you money.
Unless you think you need more than a 100mm of travel. The rockrider is perfect0 -

I'd definitely go for the rock-rider that's an insane price0
-
Rockrider all the way
Decent forks (way more than decent considering the price), hydro brakes, Shimano Deore bits - it's a no brainer. Incredible for £3400 -
or maybe I should just save a load of cash and get this..

Have you ordered yet? I've just gone for it, not owned an MTB before (I've got a couple of road bikes) so this does seem like a remarkable deal. On UK Hot Deals it was a 'very hot' deal at £400 in June. Can't believe how light it is compared to everything else under £1000 too. Still L frame sizes left at the moment...0 -

Good to see people getting that deal! I've just ordered the Rockrider Big 8, 100 less than I was going to spend and I think the spec looks good Looking forward to getting it muddy!0
