Oakley Jaw Breaker repair question?

Does the little tab that holds the nose assembly onto the lower jaw form a complete circle where the spindle passes through? Or, is there a gap to allow the spindle to be pressed in? The nose assembly has fallen off mine and im not sure if its because this tab is broken. Ive tried pressing it back in but it doesnt want to go.
