Retirement

I haven't had a full time job for 22 years, just freelance and the odd contract
I haven't needed to work at all for the last ten years.
I am now thinking, and I must thank you all for the constant reminders, of retiring...I don't have much on next week so I thought this would be a good time to pick. I have set the date of 25th. I will be 62.
What should I do with all that spare time I'm going to gain

Take toots to school. Morning pedal. Afternoon nap and a bit of fettling. Pick toots up from school. Homework, mucking around, food then bed. Evening playing snooker for 3-4 hours.

Learn to do something new.
Learn to Sail
Buy a boat somewhere warm but they do say the best two days of boat ownership are the day you buy and the day you sell.
Or learn to fly, rotary or fixed wing or if power doesn't appeal try gliding.
Or spend more time in here to wind up the plebs still working for a living rather than earning proper money.....“Give a man a fish and feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and feed him for a lifetime. Teach a man to cycle and he will realize fishing is stupid and boring”

Drive slowly and carelessly, getting in the way of people that actually need to be on the road and still have a purpose in life.
Absolutely correct. And the must have car for the irritatingly slow retiree.......

I went to a talk by a neuroscientist the other week and she basically confirmed that this is what you need to do.
Okay, she didn't say you have to get paid for it, but it did seem to be important to keep finding out new things if you didn't want your brain to start loosing the connections between the brain-cells. You have to try to keep learning.
So, how about another language? A musical instrument? Flying?
The older I get, the better I was.0 -

Not that strange really. People work for a variety of reasons save just remuneration. The striving, sense of achievement, banter, buzz, company and sheer enjoyment to name a few.0 -
