Am I going mad or did campagnolo not actually make ultra torque or shift versions of chorus, record and super record shifters?

I can find anything 10 speed above centaur in UT, I could have sworn at least chorus was an option when I bought mine back in 2008.

Confused. Ultra-torque is a bottom bracket standard (actually it's more of a crank axle standard, since both UT and PT fit standard threaded BBs). Ultra-shift is the shifting mechanism. Are you asking if there are ultra-shift versions in 10-speed for Chorus and above? In which case the answer is yes.

    I got 10 speed Centaur in 2008.
IIRC Chorus and Record were 11 speed at that time.

A Google search confirms that they were released in 2008.
Maybe you bought 2007 models in 2008.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

Old shape 10 speed Ultrashift Record levers are still available new. I have a sneaking suspicion Campag are still making them! I think Malcolm (Cycleclinic) may be able to supply but they aren't hard to find on Ebay. I'm vaguely tempted myself.

  • I bloody love ultrashift, don't know why they don't do it anymore, its much better IMHO that what Campag offer now.

I've got some 10 speed centaur and record shifers so they are definitely out there, its just that people probably snap them up quickly as many peeps love them.

However when the likes of the g-springs go, if you do the maintenance yourself be prepared for some epic fiddling, nerve jangling and loud swearing.

It's the newer shape that I'm after I'm happy with the centaur I have but would like record or even chrous in the same design, I can't go 11 speed due to three sets of almost new and expensive 10 speed wheels.

No unnerstan. Campag 11-speed cassettes fit their 9/10-speed hubs. It's only Shimano where there's a different 11-speed freehub.

    True.
I have swapped back and forth a few times. You have to have the correct cassette nut though.

I recently sold some Centaur Ultrashift (newer shape), purchased in about 2009 to fund the
    Record levers below.

I do have some Veloce Ultrashift (newer shape), purchased in 2009 (unused, still packaged)
    if you're interested.

My 'old' 10 speed record purchased in 2009 are a much better lever than my newer Record 11. I still f*ck gear changes up on my 11 after spending time on the winter machine 'cos I am convinced that the travel of the lever on the 11 to change gear is actually further than the 10 by a fraction. Or is it just me? I think the R 11 levers feel less substantial.

It's worth checking just to be sure though. There are some 10-speed campag freehubs/hubs combinations that won't work with 11. Most actual campag/fulcrum kit will be fine but I've had an older Hope RS Mono Pro 3 feehub that wouldn't take an 11 speed as the freehub is just a fraction of a mm too short - so that the lock nut doesn't fit properly (this is the blue freehub, not the later gold one). Also, my wife has a set of Halo Mercury wheels where fitting an 11-speed cassette onto the freehub, means the largest sprocket skims the spokes.

I should think any "almost new" wheels will be fine. Remember Campag went 11-speed in 2008.

It's doable but expensive. You need to get a pair of Record 10 speed shifters and put the mechanisms into a pair of Record 11 speed bodies. Velotech can do this for you (website explains the process).
