I dropped a wheel of at the lbs to replace a broken spoke, but they have threaded the spoke from the opposite side of the wheel rather than from the outside like all the rest. Will this make any difference or should I take it back and get them to change it.

I'd take it back and tell them to do it properly. Then I'd find another LBS.
Rose Xeon CDX 3100, Ultegra Di2 disc (nice weather)
Ribble Gran Fondo, Campagnolo Centaur (winter bike)
    Van Raam 'O' Pair
Land Rover (really nasty weather  )

Spoke heads should alternate in the hub, in-out-in-out etc. If you've got three facing the same way they've done it wrong, very wrong. I'd go back and ask for a refund then go elsewhere, not give them chance to do it wrong again.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

Yup, refund - whoever fitted it clearly doesn't know what they are doing
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
  • I am not 100% sure I understand correctly, but the spoke has been threaded inside out?

If so, it is a lacing error, but it doesn't necessarily lead to a worse wheel. You can lace a wheel with a 3 in 3 out pattern and it works just fine.

The problem is that in a crossed pattern it is difficult to lace a "head out" spoke when the reas of the wheel is already built. A "head in" is much easier to fit, hence maybe why they did it that way?
