Hello! My MTB got stolen a year ago and during the time I have used my father's old bike.
Looking for to buy a new MTB which will take me to school and training.
Have been looking at this bike from "Radon" http://www.bike-discount.de/en/buy/radon-zr-team-27.5-5.0-237181/wg_id-2
Is it a good choice for the money?
Best regards, Joakim

Radon is effectively bike discounts in house brand (same owners), they are usually good value and the weakness of the Euro right now helps a lot for UK buyers.
That one is a bit of a stinker though, the XCT fork is poor (once voted by a magazine as the worst fork tested that year), although that one at least is Hydraulic (most are mechanical) it is very heavy and non particularly long lived.
You'll find better for the money from Decathlon or Halfords.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -

Mostly gravel/asphalt.

Would a Raleigh Misceo 2.0 be a good choice?0 -
What is wrong with own brand? Mostly they are good bikes at good value, at Decathlon they are ALL own brand, Halfords only do Voodoo (which is quasi own brand) and Kona, the other brands are all their own.
The Misceo isn't a mountain bike but a Hybrid as you say, as I can't find a UK stockists I have no idea of the price or whether it is decent value or not.
I found a US stockist showing it as $800, or about £500 which is not good value for Acera level parts.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -
After comparing back and fourth I have decided to go with the "Specialized Sirrus Sport Disc".
I get it for 395GBP which I find a good deal.
Thanks everyone!0 -
Pity, could have got a proper bike for that.I don't do smileys.

It's a hybrid, and not a very good one.
So once again, what on the bike makes it so bad?0 -
You could have got a bike with much better gears, forks, wheels etc for the same money. Budget Specialized bikes are dreadful value. And don't think you're getting a better frame just because it's a Specialized, it's a Merida built frame, just like Carrera, Boardman, Decathlon and loads of other brands useTransition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

It just feels like I'm lost in the jungle at this moment actually.
Cannot really decide if I wanna go damped or stiff fork etc.

Okay, looking at meridas now.

Comparing these two, the cheaper one has better componentes. Isnt that weird?0 -
No, it hasn't.
But both are pretty awful.
Try the Decathlon/Halfords/Go outdoors route.I don't do smileys.

If I went a bit higjer in price, like Felt "nine", i found a bike with shimano Acera and XCM fork for 500 euros, that must atleast be decent for a bike Traveling to school/in my town0 -
Edit, going for rockrider 560, Great parts on it!0

I wouldn't worry too much. All the bikes your looking at will do a fine job on paths. http://www.halfords.com/cycling/bikes/mountain-bikes/boardman-mountain-bike-sport-ht-650b-limited-edition
I would go for this or the voodoo bantu. As both have hydraulic brakes and are well reviewed bikes.
The only bikes that are better value are decathlon. Don't think they do finance though?0 -
