it might be from brake cables or a fuerrel somewhere im not to sure i just started servicing my bike. its a gt agressor sc2, shimano deore and tektro brakes.

Where did it come from and what is it made of?

its aluminium, i think its from the brake cable housing as it fits in there. but just dont know where on bike it goes

They look like the end caps you get on the outer cable that comes from the rear mech (at least in that pic).

* Or not, if they are Alu.

ahh, i see. yes thats what they are. are they used on the bike frame or at the brakes/mechs. i think theres 2 little posts on the frame. one at front derailer and one at rear derailer

They go on the end of the cable outer (probably brakes) but might be gear (depends on the diameter - brake and gear cables are different sizes) and into the cable stop.

I would say brakes if you have V or canti brakes.

so managed to find out where they go, been looking at many pics of bike and they go in middle cable guides under the frame where the cable donuts are. for the rear mech
