Hello community, new to the forums and mountain biking in general.
About a year ago I needed to purchase a bike quick for conditions that would't suit a road bike, the Merida Matts 20-MD.
I've been mountain biking recently and am loving it but I get that I could enjoy the experience far more with a better bike, however, I haven't got the cash to just drop a bunch of money at once.
I was thinking, would it be viable to upgrade everything slowly over time, and when appropriate, I could purchase a frame and move everything across?
Very new to all this so any help is appreciated.
Thanks

Thank you for the advice, so saving for about a year (student so can't be spending a lot at once) is better than upgrading my bike slowly?0

Probably. First you have to buy bits that fit your frame, then you have to find a frame that all your new bits will fit to.
Standards change, and things like BB, steerer size and type, brake fitment, even wheel size can be specific.I don't do smileys.

Yep. When you consider that decent forks are £250, same for wheels, £80 for brakes, £50 for tyre. If you want to change the frame as well then theres another £300 for a hardtail or £800+ for full suspensionTransition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350
