Hi,

Please see attached file, anyone who knows what this is? And can it be removed?

It is killing me that I don`t know. It is a picture of a Merida Scultura 7000.

Thanks!

  • Can only imagine it's a guide tube for internal mechanical shifting that may, or may not be redundant if running Di2 or similar?

The guide for the rear brake cable if the Scultura model is one with the rear brake mounted under the BB? The cable exits a bit higher up the downtube though on my Reacto and that looks like it's almost right under the BB. I run mechanical gearing and all cabling is internal with the front inner exiting behind and to the side of the BB. It isn't therefore a guide for the front derailleur cable.

This is the underside of a Scultura 9000.

I ride a bike. Doesn't make me green or a tree hugger. I drive a car too.

I've just found this image of the Scultura Team model which shows the front derailleur inner exiting around the area of your image going through a guide to the derailleur. Therefore I would say Pippi is correct.
