Shimano M596 leak from lever

Yesterday I had lots of problems with the rear brake slowly failing on me which turns out to be a leak from the rubber seal/metal sandwich plate at the hose end near the screw.
Online I cant see any spares bar the plastic lid but I was wondering if anyone has repaired brakes before with things like gasket sealant etc? Or am I better off just getting a new lever?
