Speed sensor

I am planning on starting indoor training soon and I have an elite volare mag trainer. I want to try Zwift so I need an ant+ speed sensor for it. I don't know what speed sensor to get so I'm looking for suggestions. When I ride outside I use my iphone6 with Strava... Inside I will be using a pc to connect to Zwift. Any suggestions on speed sensors that will be compatible would be appreciated. Thank you.

The latest Garmin ANT+ speed sensor is brilliant! It's entirely self-contained and relies on an accelerometer instead of an external magnet. Fitting it takes seconds as it just attaches to the front or rear hub. Not sure about compatibility but it talks using ANT+ so I guess it would work?0

Yeah that'll work. I have two of them, one on my trainer wheel and one on my 'outside' wheel!0

Any Ant+ one would work.
I'd hold off buying one just yet though. Zwift have suggested that they are changing the way they will communicate with the Kickr. I know you don't have one but the change I'd like to see for them to start using Bluetooth. If they do this you could get a Bluetooth speed and cadence sensor (Wahoo do a good one) and you'd be able to use it both Ian bores and outdoors, with your iPhone.
You are also aware that the Zwift beta is gong to end soon. They've not stated a specific date nor cost but I think the appeal of the product will drop if they don't get he price point correct0 -

There's a chance they will go Bluetooth but I seriously doubt they will drop ANT+ support. Especially since they work with a big range of trainers, not just the Kickr. You are also aware that the Zwift beta is gong to end soon. Price: "a few lattes a month" - whatever that means
Date: Dan Lloyd on GCN hinted at 15th October as the launch date.0 -

I didn't state they'd drop Ant+. I merely stated that if they adopted Bluetooth then this might be a better option for the OP as they record rides with their phone. Therefore if they bought an Ant+ it could only be used indoors. If Zwift supported Bluetooth and the OP had a Bluetooth sensor they could use it both inside and out, hence this might be a better solution for them.0 -
If you are desperate to get one now, you can get a combined ant+/bluetooth sensor.

But if you are willing to wait, you can get bluetooth only ones for £20 (currently using one on my bike).0 -

I had the Wahoo Blue SC, worked really well with the iPhone mounted on the bars so you could see your speed and cadence.....that is until the bloody thing fell off on a ride and I didn't realise for 10 miles...didn't find it either. So annoyed I couldn't bring myself to replace it. Might look at one for £20 though - which one have you got?0 -
