Hi
I was trying to convert my triple crank to single 32t, I was hoping just to use the original 32 chain ring but I'm finding that when just attaching that single ring the bolts are to long about 1mm, plan is in future get proper 32t ring but looks like i need shorter bolts is well. Anyone can advice on which bolts to go for, would this be ok???

The bit that is to long is the one that has the cut in middle, not sure what to call it "nut"0 -
Just leave the big ring there as a spacer for now!Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

I did put everything back until the bolts arrive, did try with copper washers on the inside but couldn't tight the bolts up, been looking at 32t chainrings and looks like nearly £40 for one then chain guide is well :shock:0

Which chain device can someone recommended to use as my frame hasn't got any special mounting point near the BB, th eonly way I could mount something is along the tube between chain.0

That would be a tensioner, not a chain device - you already have a tensioner - the rear mech.
Depending on your BB and cranks you might be able to use a BB mounted device. Or leave the front mech on.I don't do smileys.

Get steel ones - cheaper and stronger. Sperstar Narrow/Wide rings are very reasonably priced, too.Specialized Roubaix Elite 2015

My BB is square taper, I will need something to guide the chain straight on to crank, when I shifted to smallest cog on rear and just fitted my 32t chain ring at front looked like it was pulling the chain to much to one side, maybe because is not proper chairing as I used one from triple chainset.0 -

If you find you need a chain device, superstar do one that mounts to the seat tube http://www.superstarcomponents.com/en/xcr-st-mount-chainguide.htm0

I have been running using 2 chainrings with out front mech and no chain drops, I can't hear it rubbing on the big chainring when I shift to lower rear cog so looks like I can get away with chain guide, there is also simple design from RSP and C.GUIDE if anyone looking
