Garmin speed/cadence sensor has been working great for the last 6 months. All of a sudden the cadence stopped working. Speed still there (definitely the sensor not GPS as tested indoors).
Tried re-pairing but still the same. When I press the reset button it flashed red/green once then stops, but the unit still finds it okay.
Does this sound battery related, even though the speed is coming through?
Thanks

if you're getting speed info and the computer knows it's a combined speed+cadence device, it may simply have failed, check the magnet and sensor arm are still in the correct positions
you can try a new battery, if no success and it's less than two years old, contact the retailer to arrange replacement under warrantymy bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny0 -
Assuming its the Gsc10, make sure the crank magnet is aligned (sometimes this slips). If this doesn't work try a new battery. If both of these steps fail then contact Garmin directly - I had a sensor fail last winter and their support was excellent tbf.0

thanks, will take a look at the pedal sensor tonight and check the battery too.0

The unit must have moved a couple of mm on the stay. repositioned it and cable tied it back down. detected both the wheel magnet and pedal sensor. thanks for advise :-)0

I had a similar problem a few weeks ago. I removed the battery (which was only fitted in June) and tested it on a volt meter and it was showing 3.5v so I knew it was ok. I refitted it, pressed the reset/calibrate button on the sensor and turned the pedals a few times and it functioned perfectly afterwards. Not sure what the problem was but maybe removing the battery and refitting it reset the whole thing. I think the button on the sensor is for calibrating only.0

For the sake of a couple of quid, just stick a new battery in and see if it works. That said, if you do find that you have to buy a new one, I suggest you go for the new Garmin magnetless version which are much neater and very unobtrusive on the bike.Cannondale Synapse Carbon Ultegra

I had the same problem which I eventualy solved when I realise the idiot of a mechanic had put the magnet inside the drive arm pedal axle.Advocate of disc brakes.0

In short 'no'. Unless I have misunderstood (which wouldn't be the first time), the OP is talking about the old Garmin 'combined ' Speed / Cadence sensor which requires two magnets and IMHO is also quite ugly - this: http://www.rosebikes.co.uk/article/garmin-gsc10-speed-and-cadence-sensor/aid:787864?gclid=Cj0KEQjwqNiwBRDnq93MioaqtKQBEiQAb7Ezn0S9CLPzqosWDjAo0nSTGwnNmb1fxry5XXAALy8jifUaAjS88P8HAQ. I am talking about the latest Garmin versions which are separate speed and cadence sensors that do not require magnets (these: http://www.wiggle.co.uk/garmin-speed-cadence-sensor/?lang=en&curr=GBP&dest=1&sku=5360660283&ci_src=18615224&ci_sku=5360660283uk&utm_source=google&utm_term&utm_campaign=UK_PLA_Accessories&utm_medium=base&utm_content=sbVO8K2wF_dc|pcrid|67090793342|pkw||pmt||prd|5360660283uk).Cannondale Synapse Carbon Ultegra

Yes, the new ones are separate units (a separate cadence sensor and separate speed sensor) that don't use external magnets, but are self-contained units that use accelerometers internally to detect movement. They work great!0

No it won't - that particular Edge 500 package comes with the old GSC10 combined speed cadence sensor which I think is the one that was giving the OP problems in the first place.Cannondale Synapse Carbon Ultegra

These are the new accelerometer-based Garmin speed and cadence sensors:
http://www.wiggle.co.uk/garmin-speed-cadence-sensor/
The picture on that page is a little misleading. The top part of the image is the same sensor (speed). The speed sensor has an integrated rubber band.
The bottom part of the image on that page shows the cadence sensor and you get a choice of rubber bands to attach it to your crank.
Edit: the pictures show a 'sleeve' for the speed sensor but this wasn't included in the Edge 1000 Performance Bundle that I received.0
