I suppose the question is do you want to upload it to the garmin or download it from the garmin. If you are uploading it the garmin then create the route using your preferred site, save it as a gpx file, plug in your garmin, open up the new files folder and drop the gpx file into it. Close the folder, unplug the garmin and when you power up it should be in courses. If you are downloading it from your garmin, create a gamin account, install the relevant garmin software on your pc, plug in your garmin and it should download from your garmin automatically. Link your garmin and strava account together and it'll automatically upload to your strava as well.

  • The route is on the Web site and I was hoping to download from the Web site and upload to garmin

As above. Plug in your Garmin and copy the GPX file to the 'newfiles' folder. Unplug, switch on the Garmin and the GPX file will appear as a course

And switch Bluetooth off to avoid the screen freezing issue.
I ride a bike. Doesn't make me green or a tree hugger. I drive a car too.
  • Not had the Garmin long. 5 or 6 weeks. Some 4 weeks not riding because I hurt my back. Went on my first sportive Sunday. Due to lack of practice I was unable to use navigation
. Route was very well sign posted. And being slow the garmin was flat after 80 miles at 6 hrs.

810 should not be flat after six hours. Mine has done sixteen.

How much backlight do you use? Should be able to read the screen clearly enough unless it is brightly sunny with no backlight at all. That saves a lot of power.
    Faster than a tent.......
  • Yes Rolf I did use it on full back light. I thought I had set it low.
  • Ok after a slow and painful sportive I have decided to have another go at cannock. How do I down load a KML to the garmin? I have tryed the new file folder what next?
