Polaroid Action Cam Software (MAC)

Hi. I have a Polaroid XS80 Action Cam which was given to me a few days ago. I am unable to get the Polaroid.app_mac software to work. I keep getting an error message saying "Connection failed. Please connect your camera." The camera is connected, and I can see the disc icon on my desktop. I am using Mac running Yosemite or El Capitan. I also tried to download a copy - but it looks like it is for the XS 100. Neither works. Can anyone advise on how to get the Polaroid.app to work?
