Scott Lin helmet spares - can't get any?

I bought a Scott Lin helmet around the start of last year and out of the box it had a broken fastener which was jammed solid, it was replaced and worked for a while but it's just failed again. The retailer has contacted Scott who have discontinued the helmet and all spares for it, I'm surprised they wouldn't have spares given the helmet is only 18 months old (it was hard to find stock, I'd got it as soon as I could so it wasn't end of line at the time) and that the fastener design isn't a more generic one that would suit multiple helmets.

I'm wondering if anyone has more knowledge of Scott helmets and where I might be able to find a new fastener if it as a more widespread design?

Or is this an expensive case of why not to use Scott helmets?
