Alternative Shimano pads?

So I've just upgraded to Shimano road hydro brakes on my cross bike. The rs785 calliper comes with resin pads and I want to get a spare set of pads. It uses the same pads as XT and XTR.
As the bike will get raced in muddy/wet conditions I'd prefer a harder wearing pad. Do people recommend the Shimano metal pads or are there better aftermarket alternatives?
