Are you sure you need a 61 cm frame - how have you established this?
Also don't forget that bike manufacturers sizing will vary; a 61 cm frame from Cannondale will most likely have different size/shape/geometry to a 61 cm frame from Specialised. Geometry also varies by model. As always, go and try a load out and see what fits best. For what it's worth, I'm 6'2" with a 33" inside leg, my son is 6'3" with a 34" inside leg and we both ride 58 cm frames.

Go to a bike shop, sit on a few and take their advice on sizing and setup.

If you are a beginner and are not wishing to go straight on to a 5 grand carbon bike with full dura ace etc then a sensible priced bike stocked by a LBS will be much of a muchness in geometry, kit and comfort.

Just find what suites your needs and most of all is comfortable to ride.
  • As said sizing is only of any use when comparing the same frame model from the same manufacturer. Those who size as XS, S, M, L, XL are probably being more helpful as saying the frame is 61cm implies there's some sort of agreed standard, when there is not.
