Super Moon on Monday....

Despite the thread title sounding like a Duran Duran song lyric (that ages me), I see a "Super Moon" and partial lunar eclipse is due Monday night. I've ridden at night with "Blood Moons" before and if you can get out to a good countryside spot with no light pollution they can be nothing short of amazing. Anyone else going out Monday to take look? Also a good excuse to get some more use out of my new Exposure lights 8)

Yep, 03:11 to 04:24 to be exact.
Would be a very early (or late) bike ride...0 -
Unlikely any of us will get to see it - apparently the world is going to end on Monday...0

Will the moons gravity make you go faster?0

Dam it! I had forgotten this & last time the world ended (2012??) i swore i would mark the next end in my diary...0 -
The moon tonight looks pretty amazing, don't think it's a super moon though...0

According to enthusiasts, it is not so much of a super moon, and the phrase is misleading. It is more of a slightly larger than normal, that the average person won't notice the difference.
Don't think I'll bother. The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.0 -
It's not just a super moon, which is quite common, but it combines with a blood moon, which is much rarer - only five times since 1900, according to http://www.independent.co.uk/news/science/supermoon-and-blood-moon-2015-will-be-last-time-two-lunar-events-coincide-for-18-years-a6669231.html.0

Yes.
But.......
If I am up between 3:11 & 4:24 I hope that it is because I am doing something much more interesting than gazing at the moon. The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

I wasn't going to but i did get up in the end. Must admit, i'm pleased i did, it was pretty incredible.0 -
I watched it ......and took some nice pictures.0

Damn, my other half got up at 3.30am to go outside and watch, but I decided my sleep was more important. Wish I'd made the effort now!0

I stayed up all night and watched as the moon started to disappear and then at 3:10 when there was literally a small sliver of white moon left the clouds covered it completely so didn't get to see the moon at all whilst it was in full eclipse. Gave up at 4am and went to bed.0

Show off, I am jealous didn't get to see the the moon looking like that. you could just make out a slight red tinge in the part of the moon going into darkness. Then boo hiss it was clouds for the rest of the night.0

I got one pic with a plane in the top right corner. Lights left stripes in the pics and two coloured blips from the flashing light - long shutter speed. Didn't really know what I was doing as its the wife's camera. Happy with results though.0

What camera and lens, the after picture of the moon has got lots of detail. not bad at all.0

It was my wife's canon 7D with normal canon kit lens (300mm). I also used a tripod and remote switch0

Meh.
Seen it before. At the much more reasonable hour of 20:00.
Count me in for a repeat of that. The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
