As the Highland winter temps start to kick in , in the morning, one of the biggest issues I have with my commute , especially in the winter, is the sheer difference in temperature between 6am and 4pm - usually lots of layers on the way in, then carrying them all on the way back,
and the forever bugbear of cold hands and toes too......
so, took to looking at heated garments,
i've seen these kicking around last year, gloves and insoles.

and now seen heated base layers too -

anyone got/had/used/liked/disliked any of these items....
i'm seriously considering gloves and insoles......
but baselayer maybe going a battery too far

I've not tried any actively heating stuff, but sometimes I leave my kit on the radiator overnight so it's warm in the morning for when I initially head out. After a few miles, everything except my hands, feet and face is warm.0 -

I have heated gloves from http://www.blazewear, plus two sets of batteries. I found heated gloves to be my saviour during the winters as I suffer from Raynaud's (and I'm a soft Southerner). I did have a pair of heated insoles but they weren't warm enough for me, so they are in my 'to be Freecycled' pile.
I've not yet looked at other insoles but will do shortly.0 -
i too suffer from that syndrome in the hands -- i can have my core boiling on rides but have cold hands - i might give that company a go.
if your thinking of selling on those insoles i might take a look, are they universal fit?0 -
guy i know was using Lenz heated socks last Winter in -7deg c, did a c 6 hour ride in them quite happily.

thinking about a pair for this year but pretty pricey at 200 Euro, they even come with an iphone app

The avade heated base layer from aus even with shipping seems very competitive to eu prices. Only slight worry for me is the heating area seems to be 2 front and 1 high up central back. Think it's preferable to be lower back kidney area like the lenz vest...0
