Numb Foot

Hi guys
sorry if this is the wrong section for this but I recently bought a carbon bike and some SPD pedals and shoes. The shoes are NW Jet Evo, now I don't know if they're good shoes or not, they're my first pair so have nothing to compare them to!
Problem is my right foot gets numb after about 20 miles, eventually is gets so numb I can't feel it at all but until then it is annoying. My right foot is the smaller of my 2 feet, I wear very thin socks and try to wiggle my toes to keep the blood flowing. I have also tried to stretch them a little but they don't seem to get any more comfortable
TBH I don't want to buy another pair of shoes so I was wondering if they will eventually 'wear in' and become comfortable?

If it was size issue it would start getting numb straight away - sounds more like nerve issue and what you need to look at is (in order of expense) shims, inner soles and bike fit.0 -
Tap your heal on the road to push your foot back in the shoe. It sounds like you are restricting the circulation. Be careful riding in cold weather - you will get frostbite like symptoms - friggin painful.0

I had the same problem with a numb foot.
Changing saddle solved the problem for me.
Maybe worth trying that...0 -
Same for me - had a numb foot and found it to be a saddle problem0

No way, I wouldn't have thought of the saddle being the issue. I'll try swapping it for my other dale saddle.
Maybe I'll break them in if I start wearing them to work?!

I have the same problem, mentioned it to my physiology while being treated for something else. She explained that for me the issue was that nerves in the bottom of my foot were being compressed. I have slightly adjusted my cleat position (literally by 2-3mm) and problem solved.
That may not be your issue though, and it is nigh on impossible for us to diagnose you online.0 -

Trial and error though! How did you adjust the cleat ie. toe in, toe out, forward or back?Cannondale CAADX Disc 2014 Tiagra - Blue

What saddles could others recommend please? I know it's a personal choice but I could do with getting an idea on price!Cannondale CAADX Disc 2014 Tiagra - Blue

I use a Fizik Antares now and it's good for me. However saddles are so individual....
I also adjusted my cleats as mentioned above at the same time as changing saddle so could be either or both....0 -
Just to confuse the issue, I get numb feet, and have had various saddles (brooks, spesh BG, fizik, spesh romin) and nothing relieved the problem. Get it with Look and SPD. narrower shoes helped a bit, as in delaying the onset. And moving cleats back as far as they would go also helped (and puts less strain on the ankle/Achilles too). I'm not about to spring £300+ on custom footbeds that may not work! I take a break for 5-10 minutes an hour if it gets bothersome, that gets the feeling back. It's due to never compression in the metatarsal area I believe.0

Cheers guys.
I have moved the cleat back as I think it is worst when I'm up out of the saddle crushing my toes into the front of the shoe. Since I don't get the problem (as bad) on my left and larger foot then it must be something like that!
I suppose I need to just change 1 thing at a time so I know what it is that fixes it! I do like the idea of buying a fizik saddle though....!Cannondale CAADX Disc 2014 Tiagra - Blue
