Compatibility SRAM XX1/X01/GX vs. Shimano XT8000/XTR9000

Please do you know if new 11 speed shifter from Shimano (XT8000, XTR9000) is compatible with 11 speed shifter from SRAM? Can I use SRAM GX shifter together with Shimano XT 8000 rear derailleur and cassette? Thnx

As it happens I fitted a GX shifter to an XTR 11 set up only yesterday after a friend toasted his shifter at the UKGE. Worked fine! In fact, I might say it actually worked better than XTR.A Flock of Birds
