Hey folks, I'm going to commute to work through the winter and need some recommendations on a jacket.
I don't want a waterproof one, just a wind stopper, preferably hiViz with reflective stripes etc.
Any recomendations wellcome

Aldi event coming up - last year's version of this was excellent vfm.

They are never going to match top dollar coats for breathable, but underarm zips are very useful to avoid 'boil in the bag'.0 -
The Decathlon stuff looks good so I think I may order something there.
The main problem is overheating and arriving at work a mess.0 -

I'm curious about this - I've got an old Altura Nightvision jacket that's somewhat boil in the bag, and considering the Aldi Winter jacket, size dependant ( 6ft 7.) as well as some of their merino base layers as I've currently only got some heavy winter non-compression polartech stuff.Intent on Cycling Commuting on a budget, but keep on breaking/crashing/finding nice stuff to buy.

I replaced my old Altura Nightvision with the Aldi last year. You would be hard pressed to find much difference in performance and is very similar in styling and visibility. Sizing tends to be wide rather than long I think.0 -

Thanks for that - its going to be an early morning detour on the bike to an aldi to get there first thing tomorrow after fitting panniers tonight, so a feedback from someone who's done the same change is very helpful indeed to confirm it's worth looking at!
I was looking at an upgrade to a 2015 NV evo instead, and that way I can get the hood as well.Intent on Cycling Commuting on a budget, but keep on breaking/crashing/finding nice stuff to buy.

what about going to places like go outdoors and see what jackets they have?
I'm also on the look out for a jacket but the ones I have had just make me too warm even in winter and I end up more wetter on the inside than the outside.0 -

The Night Vision Evo is much nicer than the standard Night Vision jacket, less boil in a bag like.Giant Defy 1 (2015)
