Need to free up some space so looking to get rid of a bike. Wasn't hugely expensive to start with and has covered a hell of a lot of miles, still functions well but having been a winter bike for at least 6 years it's not been lovingly looked after, so probably worth less than £100 now. CBA to try and sell it but seems a shame to dump it, are there any other options?

We palm our old stuff onto junior club members who's parents are skint.

There's some cycling charities in Africa after donations. I sent a load of clothing out via my coach. (As in training bod, not a 56 seater Van Hool)Insta: ATEnduranceCoaching

Wot NapD says - there are 2 charities local to me that take any condition bikes or parts to sell, restore or cannibalise.
http://www.re-cycle.org has drop-offs everywhere.
Freecycle another option - I've used this to get & lose bits & and also put a bike together & re-Freecycled.
I despair whenever I go to the tip and see bikes in the skip - mostly BSOs but enough to keep kids entertained for a while with just a little work.0 -

Love the idea of that but just tried emailing my local dropofff (leytonstone) and got a could not be delivered message. Anyone know of any options in east london/essex?0 -
Try FreeCycle http://uk.freecycle.org/. The basic idea is that people offer stuff for free, and someone who wants it gets it for nothing. Usually the person getting the item will collect it.
If you put the bike on there tonight (Friday), it'll probably be gone by the end of the weekend.
I recently lifted part of a patio, and as a result had 7 2ft x 2ft concrete paving slabs to get rid off. Real pain to take them to the local tip. Popped a message on my local FreeCycle section, and within a couple of days, some chap with an allotment came and picked them up (he wanted them to make a path for his allotment). I got rid of my slabs with no effort, and he got a free path. Everybody wins.0
