Hi All, I'm an old Roadie (58), just purchased my first mountain Bike after doing a couple of Trails on my Hybrid. I wish I had bought one earlier in life.. I have a Giant Talon 4, just back from a 50 miler on the Trans Pennine Trail, Lymm to Southport.
I would like to learn to ride my MTB as it should be ridden, can anyone give me a name of a local school or Group who is willing to show an old Manchester roadie the skills required... also any local easy runs..
Big Thanks
Paul

Can't really help with specifics to your location, but you could do worse than have a thumb through this..

Coed Llandegla trail centre is reachable from Manchester, it gets a bit of a slating in some quarters for being too easy, but the trails there are entertaining, well maintained and not to scary for a beginner. It's all rollable and certainly nothing on the blue or red graded trails should catch you out or make you feel too out of your depth the first time you ride them.
I've been riding there on and off for years and never had a really bad day out there, and there's a good bike shop / cafe as well.http:\\www.thedecliningcyclist.wordpress.com

Llandegla is a bit boring for more experienced riders but it would be ideal for a beginner. Even the black trail is really easy and flowing.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350
