Nothing like doing your own research
And the people bowed and prayed, to the neon god they made.
  • Did 53 miles with loads of climbing today on my PXLR got my backside tanned by a couple of mates(they were on race bikes but still !)
The morale to this post is , if you want to ride fast , hard and hilly , buy another bike.
    regards

    Hi all,

Looking to get a pannier rack for my London Road, any suggestions on a decent one that will take a 40 kg load?

Given the bike has the necessary modifications does it need a disc specific rack?

I have a pair of Ortlieb panniers that I will be using wit it and keen to make sure that the clearance is sufficent and the weight is going to be positioned correctly.

Also, any links to gear adjustment and maintenance for Sram Rival 22 would be much appreciated as I am not sure that mine are set up properly - problems with skipping gears and and the double tap on the rear cog is a long way in.

Bit of a cycling novice so help much appreciated.

If you scroll through the other London Road thread you will find examples of panniers fitted by several contributors - might be worth asking them directly

As far as your indexing problem is concerned - I experienced the same on my London Road a week or so after delivery. Turns out that the usual Shimano indexing procedure is not wholly appropriate. I truffled out some advice from another forum and you can find the instructions at the end of this thread.

    Hope this helps

    Hi,

I've fitted two different standard racks to mine with no issue. I don't think you need a disc specific rack, since the rear brake is fitted inside the seat stay/chain stay junction, so doesn't interfere with the rack fitting. The racks I've used are the Blackburn EX-2 Expedition (pic 1), and a second-hand one (pic 2) of which I can't remember the exact model, but similar design to the Blackburn. I've fitted a pair of Ortlieb Back Roller classics and Bike Packer Classic panniers with no issues on both racks.
