Jersey size question

I want to buy a jersey for a friend but I don't know which size I should get. The label on his jersey says:
Germany 6
GB 34"
Italy 6
Spain 4
France 4
US 34"
The problem is that shops seem to use small, medium, etc. I've read somewhere that an Italian 6 corresponds with xxl. Could this be correct? My friend is small (5.5 ft) but a bit chubby.

  • There will be an element of guesswork and luck involved here, but I generally take a size small and have a 36" chest. Based on the label info, if reliable, you would be looking at extra small, or perhaps small if you wanted to err more on the side of caution - i.e. less of a risk of the jersey being too tight to wear.

If the types of jersey (the one you have and the one you want to buy) are similar you could just measure it and ask the seller to do the same for comparison purposes?

    Hope this helps.
  • Thanks a lot! I didn't know that 34" applied to chest measurements. And a size small (or extra small) does make more sense than xxl.
