Not very nice out there today, tomorrow is due to be worse. Not been much of a summer, I want my money back. Need to shoot out later to a knocking shop then ask the Mrs which she prefers. Should I send her pictures? My eyes hurt today, maybe I should close them for a while.0

I woke up at 2.35am on the settee this morning, mid week drinking is not good.

Terrible start to the day. I couldn't find my wallet. I thought it was in my car (car locked and in a safe place) but it wasn't there. Searched the car and the house and had to leave home without it.
Then it just appeared in the passenger footwell on the way to work  .
Remembered that last night I had tested my brakes, two full emergency stops on a deserted bit of road had thrown the wallet to behind the glovebox, and a bit of driving had moved it back into view.
The bad summer is my fault by the way, I bought a portable air-con for the bedroom at the beginning of the year. Sorry.
The older I get, the better I was.0 -

Neighbours. Their child goes to a school just by my office so sometimes I am asked if I mind.

Working from home today and have moved out of the office, into the snug and lit the log burner
Todays early start seems wasted as the file I was sent to analyse looks wrong, thankfully I found out just before I finished working on it :roll:0 -

******* hate dieting and healthy living.
I've started feeling sluggish and tired recently. Quads are always feeling the exercise every time I walk up the stairs. Thinking by altering diet etc it may help this.
I'll still enjoy a meal out etc just going to be a bit more careful on the other days. Shame their is cake in the kitchen at work.0 -

Afternoon,
Tired but have had a fair bit of coffee.
Was up late last night dealing with Muttley who discovered a couple of bits of the garden under the trees and bushes where we can't get to him. Then proceeded to dig for England. I think I'll rename him 'Komatsu' and hire him out to a mining company on account of the amount of earth he shifted Luckily the garden clearers/tree loppers are in today to remove his safe havens.

Things are all a bit serious over at the cake stop so decided i'm not posting on refugees, politics or politicians until they all cheer up, unless of course i can think of a cracking pun to trivialise the debate a bit. corbyn there done that maybe? corbyn man? who knowswww.conjunctivitis.com - a site for sore eyes0 -

Had the shortest downpour I've ever encountered. Started raining heavily as I joined a large roundabout and stopped just after I cleared it. Lucky break there.
Regarding refugee posts in Cake Stop I thought my Daily Mash link might have helped, but nobody bit.0 -

Evening all
Yesterday was hell Then it got worse. A friend of mine with no mechanical nous  whatsoever brought his Ridgeback with it's Shimano gearing and a bucket full of congealed muck around at 8pm. I was going to just change the chain for him. The transmission was more like a device for testing the life of a chain in less than 20 miles, acting as some sort of grinding paste*. Fair play to those clever Japs as the thing still worked. I ended up taking the cassette off, the jockey wheels and an infernal triple, with it's 8 bolts and the 4 bolt nuts for the bigger two chainrings behind the bloody small cog. Thank fook it was a sealed BB. I noticed when cleaning the free wheel that the rear spindle was loose so cleaned and re-greased the rear wheel bearings too. 1 whole new tin of muc-off gone that he supplied and 4 boiling kettles, some of my muc-off later, it was back together at 11pm.
I have never had to scrape grease and dirt off a bike transmission with a screwdriver like that before. I said 'Here's the deal, come back in 3 months or any longer than that - don't come back at all'.
However, said bloke has Czech republic girl as an au pair and is hand for baby sitting - and he owes me one.
Downside is that she's got a date with Heinrich, French Swiss bloke (who shagged another French girl whilst shagging his then girl friend previously) so Czech girl might not be available for baby sitting duties having been lost to Pepe le peu.

I'd have just told him it needed a new chain, front and rear mech, cassette, chainset and bottom bracket and fitted all the new ones, no need to mess about with cleaning it all then :-)www.conjunctivitis.com - a site for sore eyes0
