I would like to buy a SSCX for my commuting in London with disc brakes. Seems to me that there is not much out there (dont want to spend more than £700). At first I was thinking to the Genesis Day One Disc, but then I found the Verenti Isolation CX12. Any suggestions? http://www.wiggle.co.uk/verenti-isolation-cx12-singlespeed-2015/

Thanks

  • There's an Arkose as well.

Distance? Terrain? I did it for a while on a Day One Disc. 20 miles each way. Not all that easy going.

The Verenti looks like great value - only comment would be the Avid BB5s and upgrading to TRP Spyres at some point might be worth it.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

Righe... you re right. 12 km flatish, or 15 hillish... Only roads with tarmac.
  • Yeah, I'd find it hard to look beyond the Verenti. And I'd get some Spyres straight away.

If you're running mudguards on it then you will want to look at tougher tyres depending on the dropouts. Changing tyres on single speeds isn't quite as easy.

  • I've got a day one disc and think its a brilliant bike having said that while the frame is ace brakes cant be faulted and the kit is good 46x18 just isn't a cx gear for my legs. Its ok on flat parkland & hilly roads but anything beyond that my knees go pop. I'm getting the pennies together to change to a 42 front and get a few more back cogs for variety. I also swapped out the tyres to Conti CX Speeds which really livened up the ride.
