Hello People,
Thought I ask here might get a better response
I've got half a day in the Lake District Wednesday so looking for recommendations for routes.
Base will be Great langdale Campsite
Distance 60-80KM road
Something scenic not afraid of steep hills
GPX routes or links gratefully accepted
Cheers

Not that familiar with the area, but you could try here:

Google for the route of the Fred Whitton and choose the bit you like the look of. You did say you like hills??
ETA - beaten to it; several of the Ride With GPS entries above are for the route of the Fred.0 -
Not afraid of hills?
Okay, try this - one of my 'training for the Fred Whitton' routes. Carry on out of the Gt Langdale valley, you'll almost immediately come across a climb to 'Side Gates', follow this to the end of that road, then turn right and that will take you up Wrynose the long/hard way. Once over Wrynose follow the plateau to Cockley Beck, where you go left, down the narrow road following the river Duddon, follow the road a few miles then over the bridge and down toward Ulpha. At Ulpha take the Birker Fell road on the right(25%), up over Birker Fell and eventually drop down into Eskdale Green. At the King George IV pub, take the right turning and follow the road past Dalegarth and Boot all the way to the Hardknott pass (30%), over that, along the plateau again, back over Wrynose (not as hard as you're already halfway up it), back down through Little Langdale, then head back left to Elterwater and then left again to take you back into Gt Langdale. Then into either the Old Dungeon Ghyll or the Red Lion for a well deserved carbohydrate injection (otherwise known as ALE!).0 -
I was going to suggest LL's route too - used to ride a variation often when I was working locally.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

I might have to scale back my ambitions ie distance & severity of hills
I just don't want to head out and get stuck
