which mountain bike

I have between £1000-£1500 to spend on a Mountain Bike, I have been road riding for a few years now and feel its time to come back and do some off road and trail riding with the possibility of upgrading to mountains in the future, I have no clue what to buy as I have been out of it for over 10 years help please

    What sort of riding do you want to do? There are loads of different but equally good bikes to suit all types of riding from old style xc to downhill racing and enduro.

    I'm in the same boat but with £1000 budget unless I can get the shop to accept a top up with my £1000 voucher.
    I'm looking for a hardtail and the best reviews seem to be for the whyte 901 and 905.
    I'm thinking of getting the boardman carbon pro for £1200. Deore /XT groupset and 11.2 kg. I've not seen anything that light in the price range
