Replacement disk commuting / CX Frameset

Right, I'm staggering around nursing 3 cracked ribs after a crash last night, my Boardman CX team has a broken steerer tube, that much I'm sure of but haven't checked it over closely, the rest seems OK. I'm considering options in case I can't find a replacement fork or the frame is toast as well. It's my commuter/ audax bike so needs to capable of fitting proper mudguards (SKS longboards) and have rack mounts as well as big tyre clearance.
Having just bought a new bike on Saturday funds are not plentiful so would welcome suggestions for a replacement frame. I'd love a Genesis Equilibrium 725 disc but really don't think I'll stretch to that so was eyeing up the Planet X London Road, other complication is that the Boardman is BB30 so some converter is probably required.

Ouch, sorry to hear that I know how painful broken ribs are.
The Planet X is probably one of the cheaper options. My Kinesis Pro6 has rack and guard mounts, they may be discounted now as I see they have a new disc cross frame out.
Hope you heal fast and well, remember to keep breathing as deeply as you can and take the pain killers.0 -

Good shout Bender - however the majority of the listings in your link are for 2014 frameset which, although fitted with mudguard eyelets, does not have rack mounting bosses on the rear seat stays. It also has steel forks/alloy steerer which does add a bit of a weight penalty. He would need to seek out a 2015 frameset to get the rack bosses and carbon forks.
I have the 2014 frame which I built up earlier this year and have loved riding. However I have recently ordered a new Planet X London Road with SRAM Rival 22 after a trip to the Planet X outlet at Rotherham to reap the benefits of the carbon forks and the resultant weight saving.
Having seen the bike/frameset in the flesh, I think the OP would struggle to get more bang for his buck then with the London Road frameset.

It has a standard BSA threaded BB, which is a significant plus point IMHO - but I'm sure he should be able to accomodate his BB30 crankset with suitable adaptors.0 -

Cheers, you're not wrong about the pain! I landed on my back on the pavement and couldn't move for a while as totally winded. An ambulance was called and they took my bike home for me, great people.0 -

It does seem great value at £199, will check how much can swap over from the cx, need a headset too? The cx one was on the way out so would have had that cost anyway.0 -
This http://www.rotoruk.co.uk/btmbrackets/bsa-30.php should allow you to fit your 30mm axle chainset to the Planet X 68mm bottom bracket, although it will depend on the width of the axle.'Hello to Jason Isaacs'0

Croix der Fer maybe? Swap out the fork when you can (Genesis may even be selling the Equilibrium fork separately at some point I believe). Finance available too.

Don't hold your breath. I contacted Genesis directly by email when I bought the 2014 disc frameset to see if they would sell me a set of the carbon forks they were using on the 2015 model but I got no response whatsoever.
I also asked the guys at Paul Milnes where I bought the frame and they said they would try to find out. But no joy there either.
They may have changed their attitude since then but I wouldn't bet on it.0 -

Just seen the Cotic Escapade, frameset for £349. Think my wheels can be converted to 9mm bolt through for the fork.

I've had a croix de fer for a couple of years but there is no getting away from the fact that it is a heavy beast of a bike for commuting on each day.
I've also been considering swapping frame/forks for something with a bit more "zing" so am watching this thread with interest.
The genesis equilibrium disc frameset on offer at hargroves cycles at 420 currently tops my list (size 58) though the Cotic looks pretty nice also - though I doubt will be much different to the croix de fer (ie heavy!)0 -
I think the London Road is in the lead for me, although I'd prefer an Equilibrium can't see how I'd stretch to it although you do get the seatpost, headset and stem included which will be extras on the p!anet x.0

If you're referring to the Hargroves advert then you're right about the headset being included but they state specifically that the seatpost is not included. No mention of the stem but I would check first as, although it features in the pic, it is rare to have it thrown.
Also for the Planet X the headset is an FSA C-40-ACB which retail around the £50 mark. Although pricey it would still end up being cheaper than the Equilibrium even when you add in the cost of a seatpost + stem0
