tyres, tubes, wheels - vintage sizes
Hi everyone, this is probably a silly question, but anyway: I have a vintage road/racing bike with 27"x1" tyres. These need to be renewed now but it's impossible to find that size, so it'd probably be easiest to just switch to 27"x1 1/4 which is the standard size now. I'm just wondering if I will need new wheels as well then since the tyres might be too big for the wheels? Is that a problem?
Would you recommend getting new wheels too?

Cyd is correct in what he says. For more information than you could possibly need on the subject Sheldon Brown is your friend:

Very useful site for anything along these lines.0 -
I spent all of my teenage years on 27x1 1/4" tyres. Unless they are unusually skinny ones I'm sure the extra quarter of an inch will be fine on your rims.0
