Really tempted by a Superstar XPR Expander ring ( especially at £22.50) - but they say its only for Shimano Cassettes. Looking at the Uberbike version (which seems to be exactly the same) its described as Shimano and Sram compatible, do you think it will make for really poor shifting if I used the Superstar Expander? Or as its a big jump anyway will it not make much difference?

It will work but shifting isn't optimal as the lifting ramps are not aligned with where the chain will leave the lower cog best, given you have a low level cassette anyway why not take advantage of the excuse to fit a better Shimano one?
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.
  • The Uberbike version can be fitted in two different orientations to suit SRAM or Shimano and line up the shifting ramps.

I only just bought this one! Its a pg1050 which is a GX level apparently? Nout wrong with it so there is no way im replacing a brand new one. Anyway - looks like i will be better off going for the uberbike version.

Looks like i will just have to plump for one of those then.
